New York Jets: Week 5 Predictions Against the Philadelphia Eagles

New York Jets

After a long two weeks, the New York Jets are ready to go to battle against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Lincoln and potentially look like a half-decent team. How will the two teams match up against each other and what will they do? How will Luke Falk do in his second career start?  I’ve got all the answers and they’re quite simple.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles come into this game well-rested after a one-and-a-half-week break after playing the Packers last Thursday night. However, the Eagles team is badly banged up with two of their top corners out for this Sunday. The Eagles record is 2-2, but they haven’t gone down without a fight only losing those two games by less four points in high scoring affairs with the Lions and Falcons. The Eagles are competitive as long as Carson Wentz can continue to carry this team and its awful defense on its back. Look for a very pass-heavy offense against a Jets defense that will not have C.J. Mosley and Jordan Jenkins.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are in a tough spot right now as they are coming off a bye week where they anticipated that their franchise QB would suit up against the birds. Unfortunately, the Jets grossly mismanaged the QB situation and will have to start Luke Falk who hasn’t had many reps with the ones. Adam Gase opted not to practice during the bye week and that decision will hurt the Jets as their starting QB will be wildly unprepared. The Jets’ defense has been as solid as they can be with what they have, but they’re still not a great group. If Gregg Williams and the defense can hold their own against the Eagles it’ll be on Adam Gase to finally let the ball travel more than 5 yards on pass plays.

Predictions

Prior to the Sam Darnold news, the Jets were coming into this game with a lot of hope. Unfortunately, any hope Jets fans had is all gone. This is basically an early bye week for the Eagles as they’ll cruise to victory against the Jets in Philadelphia. I’m predicting a generous 31-10 defeat for the Jets as they could easily be even more decimated by a team that is much superior to them in every way.

New York Jets: Sam Darnold gets cleared to throw, timetable still unclear

New York Jets, Sam Darnold

The New York Jets’ beginning to their season has been a nightmare. Winless and without their starting quarterback, the Jets are clinging onto the little bit of good news on Sam Darnold that came out.

Diagnosed with mononucleosis, there was a concern that Darnold would miss a big chunk of the season. Fortunately, it seems like his time off is serving him well as he received partial clearance to begin throwing and do non-contact work.

There was a little spark of hope that the 22-year-old QB would be available to play this Sunday against the Eagles, but coach Adam Gase said today that it’s “questionable” that he returns this weekend.

“(The test results were) not the clear-cut answer we were hoping for,” said Gase. “There’s just a lot of gray area right now.”

The Jets will most likely have to start their former practice-squad quarterback Luke Falk for the second consecutive week. Trevor Siemian was originally the backup quarterback until he suffered an ankle injury that will cause him to miss the rest of the year.

In his one game this season against the Buffalo Bills, Darnold went 28-41 throwing for 175 yards with one touchdown.

“We have to see how practice goes, we have to see how he feels, we have to see what his conditioning level is,” said Gase. “There are a lot of boxes we have to check before we can say, ‘Hey, we’re rolling on Sunday.”

The New York Jets shouldn’t rush Darnold back, however. There’s no need to rush him back from a serious illness that could potentially only cause more harm to him and the team.

New York Jets vs. Patriots Week 3 Predictions

Adam Gase and the New York Jets are off to a rough start to the season, losing their first two games of the season. This week the Jets will be traveling up the coast to play against the New England Patriots in what should be a bloodbath. The Patriots are looking as deadly as ever and the Jets are looking like an easy target, how will this game play out?

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are on a roll right now destroying everything in its path thanks to a dominant defense and an ageless Tom Brady. The Patriots have a chance to set NFL history this week is the only team since the 1937 Bears to not allowing a single touchdown through the first three weeks of the season. The Patriots have outscored their opponents this season with a 76-3-point difference. Bill Belichick is notorious for keeping his foot on the gas pedal throughout the entire game. The only thing the Patriots need to do this week is just showing up, they have no weakness.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are looking like a total circus this year, whether it is our head coach looking like he sniffed a kilo of cocaine before his introductory press conference or our franchise QB contracting Mono, it hasn’t looked great. The Jets will be going into Foxboro with a very undermanned staff due to a series of unfortunate injuries. Luke Falk will get the first start of his career and so far, he’s looked like the team’s best QB this season. If Falk can pull a magical game out of his helmet it will give the Jets a lot of momentum going into the bye week. If Adam Gase decides to let his QB throw more than 5 yards, then the Jets might have a shot.

Prediction

The New York Jets virtually have no shot this week and probably shouldn’t even show up considering how badly they are about to get beat. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots will take so much joy in brutally murdering the hopes and dreams of many Jets fans out there this Sunday. If I were to be a homer id say this game ends 14-27 Patriots win, but I’m not a homer and I have an IQ above -5 so this game will end 38-6 Patriots win.
